Caregiver Support Group July 9
Alzheimer's Association caregiver support groups, conducted by trained facilitators, are a safe space for family and friends of persons with dementia to build a support system with people who understand. Everyone is invited to attend on the 2nd Tuesday of each month FREE at the Church of Christ Assisted Living, 23621 15 Mile Road, Clinton Township, MI 48035. You do not have to have a loved one in our Assisted Living to attend - ALL ARE WELCOME! The next meeting will be Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. No pre-registration is needed. Steak and Corn Roast - August 17
On Saturday, August 17, at 5:00 p.m., our philanthropy department will sponsor our annual Steak and Corn Roast fund-raiser to benefit the Church of Christ Care Center and our residents. This is a fun event and features great food and entertainment! Our residents and their immediate families may attend at half-price. So, the Early Bird price of $80 up to August 1, is $40 each for residents and immediate families. After August 1, the price of tickets is $90, or $45 each for residents and each immediate family member.
Please consider the following important points for those who attend. This event is NOT a regular resident activity. It is not a part of their ongoing program, activities, or dining routine. But we want to offer you and them an opportunity to participate in a fun event together. Here are key points:
- Each resident must have a family member attending with them to assist with any needs that may arise during the dinner. Special food needs must be made a week in advance.
- The family member should assist with helping to cut up meats or other foods. They must assist in getting them to bathrooms in the building.
- Please be aware that the Steak and Corn Roast is conducted outside on our event pad under a huge tent. It is a comfortable atmosphere.
- Our staff for residents are not available for assisting with food, or getting residents to bathrooms, or back to their rooms. Please assist your loved-one back to his or her room after the event.
- So, think of this as an event you might take your loved one to off-campus.
Our entertainment is by Devin Scillian and his band, Arizona Son. Devin is news anchor for NBC Detroit channel 4. He was recently voted the top news anchor for Detroit as well as receiving the Detroit Music Award multiple times for top country music. He is also a children’s book author. The event will feature a silent auction with some wonderful items to buy. We have received a personally signed Miguel Cabrera baseball bat from the Detroit Tigers. So, that will be one of the popular auction items.
Please call Judy at 586-285-7104 for Steak and Corn Roast tickets or information.
